For many years I have taught a unit at Christmas entitled Christmas Around the World. This unit has gone from basic lecture to the kids using the internet to research. First year I took pictures and put together a booklet. Following years we have done Powerpoint presentations, video of plays, used computers for our programs and invitations. This year we have Grandparents RSVP on the internet to their grandchild. This unit has been used for a project with INTIME from the Univ of Iowa. We use the Alphasmarts to type and put together information. This year possible recording and putting to gether a video show for the kids to watch. Technology proficiency is an area that is constantly changing for both students and teachers. We need to use this area in our fields in the classroom. I try to find new ways to use technology each year. My goal this year is a web page and a class newspaper. I have had to learn and keep learning to stay ahead of my students who like and know a little about technology. These students are the ones that have had the knowledge since birth and each year they know a little more.
